Welcome to My World: A Journey in Words

About Saidi

Hi, I’m Saidi! Welcome. If we haven’t met before, consider this an introduction to my thoughts, my stories, and the questions that keep me curious.

SaidiSpeaks is a space for reflection, questioning, and honest conversations about identity, society, and the inner lives we rarely pause to examine.

Writing is one of my passions. I’m not a professional writer, just someone who loves exploring ideas and emotions through words. Sharing my writing still makes me a little uneasy, but the desire to connect, to think out loud and invite others into that process, always outweighs the fear.

I write to understand… myself, the systems we live within, and the quiet forces that shape how we think, choose, and belong. I’m drawn to complexity and prefer sitting with questions rather than rushing toward certainty. My work lives at the intersection of personal experience and cultural observation, where inner worlds meet external structures.

Having lived across different cultures and languages, I’ve learned that identity is not fixed; it’s negotiated. I’m multilingual and don’t quite have a “first” language. Alongside English, I speak German and Sierra Leonian Krio. This linguistic mix mirrors my identity: layered, fluid, and shaped by movement. I’ve lived in different countries and cities, each adding depth to how I see the world. I believe there’s no education more grounding than immersion, learning directly from how others live, think, and make meaning.

Running is another important part of my life, but for me it’s more than exercise. It’s a meditative practice; a space where thoughts loosen, ideas surface, and creativity begins to take shape. Many of the stories and reflections you’ll find here start on these runs, later woven together with inspiration drawn from music, people, friendships, and literature.

What you’ll find here is a blend of all these elements: lived experience, curiosity, movement, and reflection, shared with care and intention.

So, without further ado, let’s dive in.

"The art of storytelling is the art of convincing people that they know you, even when they don’t."

— Scott Adams

Artistic Life vs. Conventional Life

If you want to be a grocer, or a general, or a politician, or a judge, you will invariably become it; that is your punishment. If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life but what I will call the artistic life, if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know you will never become anything, and that is your reward.

- Oscar Wilde

“The best stories are the ones that make you think.”

— Neil Gaiman
